North Augusta seeks unified character education program

About 40 residents met at Paul Knox Middle School to explore character education for Area 2 schools. Rachel Franklin, a public school moms prayer group member, described inspiration from Chick fil A founder Truett Cathy and the need for motivation over money. Dr. Nancy Smith noted state mandates and district policy to infuse character into school climate, while not requiring a formal program. Michelle Conner and Jeanette Godwin explained existing efforts and the lack of a countywide standardized program. Franklin envisions videos and testimonies to boost involvement and urges a stronger school board push to bring hope, not extra work.
