Hall Shines as Hall Says Duke Had No Answer
Louisville’s Jeff Hall keyed the 72-69 NCAA title win over Duke by shadowing Duke star Johnny Dawkins and drawing the toughest coverage. Hall, furious after a late collision with Danny Ferry, helped limit Dawkins to no field goals in the final 12 minutes while teammate Pervis Ellison earned MVP honors with a clutch performance. The Cardinals’ 1-1-3 defense, plus strong rebounding and Crum’s game plan, secured Louisville’s first NCAA title as Hall praised Ellison’s poise and the team’s resilience.

Hallberg Leaves Fast Lane For Rooted Chicago Return
Gary Hallberg, 27, plans to move from California back to Barrington Illinois to reconnect with family friends and Sweden born roots. He says golf remains central but stresses peace of mind and simpler living over wealth and possessions after touring the globe and dated splurges. He singles out early career earnings, eight cars, and big parties, now downsizing to two cars and a modest home while pursuing personal balance and better focus on his game.
