New Ross Indiana November 18 The house of William Butler burned Sunday morning at ten thirty. It is believed the fire started in the back part roof from a spark. Neighbors and residents rushed to aid as Miss Mildred Peterson warned others and a crowd gathered. Everything of value was saved except a kitchen cabinet and bedstead. coal in a shed near the house was also lost. The house was insured for 800 dollars and the Butler family will stay with Wayne Shelton for the present.
Officers set the agenda for the next gathering on the topics of current events biographies Shakespeare and Merchant of Venice. Members are urged to attend as books will be distributed and exchanges held with copies available through students or graduates.
The Litton High School basketball squad visiting the local team last Saturday night lost 9 to 7. The Litton girls also played their first game, losing 5 to 4 to the eighth year girls. The crowd was large making play nearly impossible.
A touring car traveling sixty miles an hour west of Shannondale Sunday morning lost its front axle, collapsed into a telephone pole, and threw four passengers and the chauffeur into a field and roadside. No serious injuries reported though the car was totally wrecked. names of passengers not learned.

Reps earn liberal commissions by forwarding subscriptions and renewing existing subscribers. The ad invites immediate writing to Butterick Building New York City.
Mayee wees James Lasley and sons George and Richard spent part of the week with relatives in Putnam county. Valley Hadge spent Saturday night and Sunday with Harry Alkire and family of Lebanon. Pete Stevens and wife and Mary Stump of near Roark school house spent Sunday with Abe Stump and wife. Walter Cristler and wife spent Sunday with C O Powell and family. LN Sandlin and family spent Sunday with relatives in Hillisburg. Lloyd Cleaver and wife and Em mett Cleaver spent Sunday with Ves per Edrington and family. Edith Campbell of Lebanon took supper with Jas. Lasley and family Saturday.
Crowds overflowed the North Christian Church with Sunday School rooms used after every chair was filled. Four members have joined so far and organizers aim to reach 200 in attendance. The program features topics on The New Birth Coming To The Only Thing Worth While and The Love of Contention.
