Advance reports a large crowd attended Armistice Day observance at the North Church Sunday night. John H. Hussey of Zionsville delivered a stirring message. the school contributed music led by Miss Stewart. Rev Wyatt oversaw the program with Prof Lowler introducing the speaker.
The Advance High School basketball team fell 17 to 32 Friday night to Whites town. The Whitestown team showed speed and skill, earning praise for a win. A birthday surprise honored Walter Davi at his country home ahead of his 32nd birthday with a noon pitch-in dinner. Attendees included Mrs. Abe Stump, Ab Reves and family, Delbert Garver and family, Wine Stumpard family, Miss Gane Stump, Bynum Canada and family, and Ray Pmvis with George and Minnie Gite.
A Providence gathering began last Monday night with a good turnout. Glen Waters led the song service while George D. Wyatt was not in charge, and attendees reported the singing as fine.
A man named Sparks, an electrician, is arrested for assault and battery and brought before the judge. The judge asks for his name, occupation, and charges, and orders the prisoner placed in a dry cell. Also note an ad for Springer heifers and cows for sale by Elisha Higgs with phone number 12623.

Advance prepares for its first cinema night in some time. The town, previously the only one in the county without moving pictures, rolls out a fine rich and snappy program this Saturday night.
The Carter and Sons garage, a cement block shop with ample light and sizable space, is nearing completion. The Carter brothers are experienced mechanics and the elder Mr. Carter excels in wood materials, and the shop has long been an asset to the Advance community.
The Providence Church Ladies Aid met at the Becks on Wednesday afternoon with a Thanksgiving themed program. Thirty five members attended as they cut and hauled several cords of wood to the church and refreshments of pumpkin pie ginger bread popcorn balls and coffee were served.
The Junior Mission Band of North Christian church met Tuesday night with Freeda and Oscar McClaine. A goodly number attended. The program included topics on God's gifts, songs like Count Your Blessings, prayers, and short reports. Benediction quoted Let the words of my mouth.
The North Christian church mails ballots listing all members eligible for church positions. Current board members cannot be reelected until one year after leaving office. Onward details indicate a procedural approach to officer selection.
Lawrence Riner and wife plus Mrs J F Riner visited Lebanon Saturday afternoon. Ora Beaver and daughter attended church in Lebanon Sunday night. Mrs Floyd Kinkead of near Crawfordsville spent last week visiting relatives locally. Mary Ross and mother Mrs Williams returned to Ohio after visiting relatives here. Sunday guests with J C Lucas included Paul Lucas and family, Otis Spohr and wife, Charles Forbes and family, and Clay Lewis and wife of Lebanon. Tom Nelson of New Market weekend with O A Nelson. Stanley Rohn of Tell City and Lena Miller of Lebanon among visitors. George Crim moving in with Clair Bratten. shower for Leo Kincaid and bride at Elmer Hinkle’s. Armistice Day parade drew locals to Lebanon. A Roachdale dedication sermon in Roachdale is mentioned.
Mrs Nannie Wall and Mrs Henry Potts of Lebanon stayed with Mrs Clara B McDaniel from Wednesday night to Saturday. Mr and Mrs Ora McDaniel visited G W White and Ernest White near Indianapolis last Thursday. Miss Lottie Pittman of Crawfordsville visited Mr and Mrs Emmett Bowman and son Walter. Several from here attended the Whitestown and Advance game in Whitestown Friday night. Mrs Ora McDaniel and children were in Lebanon Saturday. Cleo Broshar is husking Earl DeBard's corn.
In a hot game between Frankfort and Advance on Saturday night, Advance edged Frankfort 25 to 24 on the local floor. The first half was tight at 11 to 10, signaling a strong start for Advance as the home team strained to find its bearings.
David Clark of Jamestown selected as a juror in the $20,000,000 Hawkins Mortgage Co. mail fraud case in federal court at Indianapolis. U S district attorney Homer Elliott opened the government's case, jury chosen after morning session with thirteen veniremen dismissed. all defendants except Morton Hawkins of Portland, Ind., attended.
Members of Lebanon Lodge No. 45, Knights of Pythias, Lebanon, plan to host 800 Knights at a county meeting Thursday night Nov 20. Boone county Pythians are urged to attend with hospitality from No. 45. Local lodges and surrounding counties welcome. state officers expected. delegation will give work in the third rank.
Charley Wall of Iowa died yesterday at the home of his cousin William A Wall in New Ross. He had just returned from taking his cousin to the 6:20 car, parked his car, and after returning inside complained of illness and died instantly. The Wall and his wife had been visiting his mother who is ill. A social event is noted for next Saturday at 1:00 PM at Joe and Otis Wall's big sheep barn.
The M E Church U G with Pastor Abbot announces services next Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Sunday School follows, with hours at 11:00 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Community members urged to attend.
A local Missionary program is set for next Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs Lottie Brat ton. Grace Whitely leads the devotional A Song of Degrees with Carrie Beaver assisting. Participants include Mabel Garner Rosa Riner Katie South Ida Welden and Mrs Lizzie Lasley. Additional items Ella Smith Ela Smith Lulu Higgins Hidden Chorus and a rapid fire shots segment close with a prayer hour. The event invites all interested to attend.
Otis Spohr uses surplus funds on Bruce Borris dated farm. Much new fencing is erected and the residence receives fresh painting. The property is described as beautiful and well kept under Spohr’s care.
