An English bishop owned a portable bathtub he forgot to take on a pastoral visit. Returning home, he found the housemaid had used the tub. He called her into his study and gently warned that while he tolerated her use, he objected to any misdeeds behind his back.
A. D. Gardner, an auctioneer and sale crier, advertises best references and guarantees all work. He invites inquiries before printing bills and notes office at tox & Davis Livery Barn in Lebanon Indiana.

Stockholders named Thos M Shera M P Riner F Ms Bowman W H Dean W S Lassey W D Leap SB W Ailes Bb F Jones Z M Whorley H F Potts and J S Welden. Each share valued at 200, total capital stock 300. The firm will be incorporated soon.
A Hustler 1880s column debates how churches should handle members who become intoxicated. It argues moderation is needed, condemning overreaction while noting drunkenness is a personal temptation and that church discipline should address harm caused, not mere inclination.
