In a Lowell Indiana reminiscence Mr O Brien recounts a July 1918 air engagement over German lines. He says six allied planes fought twenty German machines. he was shot in the mouth at 8000 feet, witnessed a mate's death, and later escaped a German camp by leaping from a moving train. He describes aid from a German doctor and his later return to relatives in Canada with a map of a fallen airman buried nearby.
