On June 28 by proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson and Governor James P Goodrich every taxpayer and wage earner must appear to report current War Stamp holdings and pledge for future purchase. Noncompliance results in a yellow card sent to the Treasury, with exact details of attitude. The Advance Community Building will host workers June 28 to assist signups for Jackson township’s $14,400 goal.

Long Fight Ends as George M McDaniel Dies at 61
George Morton McDaniel died June 10 1918 after about eight years with mouth cancer at his home near Advance Indiana. He endured pain with cheerfulness refusing to burden others and left a Red Cross pin on his breast. He read headlines and followed the war, wrote his own obituary, and was buried in Jamestown after a North Church service conducted by several ministers. He is survived by a wife Clara Brinegar two sons Ora and Charley four grandchildren and several siblings.

Sudden Death of Warren D Bratton at 35
Warren D Bratton of three miles southeast of New Ross died Saturday at 2 am after a daylong gallstone illness. He was 35. Funeral Sunday at the Methodist Church drew a large crowd. He was born March 28, 1883, married Mayme Funkhouser in 1908, leaving two children Pauline Marcella (deceased) and Dorothy June, plus his parents, siblings, and wife. Burial followed in Brownsburg area with ministers from several towns participating.
