The Hoosier Electric Construction Company will depart soon for Waygetown. All persons planning to have buildings wired or connections made for electric lights should visit at the earliest opportunity.
The last will dated November 7, 1912 is admitted to probate. Witnesses are John D Murrey and Samuel G. Emmert. The will leaves forty acres in Jackson township to Francina with life tenant rights, then to Charley Emmert, and gives Francinis all household goods and other personal property. Charley Emmert is named executor.
A small blaze tore through the Heady school house near Old Asion on Monday night. Teacher William Pratt found a three foot hole burned in the chimney and severed joists, with no sign of entry or awakening witnesses. The origin remains uncertain as the fire apparently died before causing more damage.
Candidate J B Beaver yields to friends and will seek the assessor post at the forthcoming township convention. Beaver has served as deputy assessor at different times and is active in the Jackson township Democratic party for several years.
The Advance Commercial Club will meet Monday at 8 o'clock in the Opera House. Important matters will be discussed. Men seeking club membership are urged to attend this evening.
The fourth year works on a chair map of the United States while sickness reduces activity this week. Eighth year training for the Declamation Contest is led by Mr. Pointer. The second to fourth years prepare for Friday declamation contests with room three representatives named. Victoria Proffits returns after a two week sickness absence and several pupils from rooms two and three are listed as absent or entered in contests.
A birthday dinner planned by a daughter named Beas surprised Mrs Bess Nisley last Sunday. About two dozen friends and relatives attended the festive meal with music and fellowship, marking a birthday that stood out in memory. Alva Nisley of Indianapolis was among the twenty one guests.
The Economy Tailoring Company now based behind Doty's Novelty Store has received a large spring and summer sample lot. A good suit from these samples is offered for 16.50 and there are fine cloth samples for ladies suits available.
L. C. Cauldwell of near Dover traveled to Anderson with prize Buff Orpingtons and returned with two firsts two seconds a second and a fourth on pullets and a second and fifth on pens. He has long shown birds at fairs and now aims to win more prizes, while the Butler editor bought a few to test his prize poultry band.
The Jackson township Democratic convention to nominate candidates for township trustee and township assessor will be held in the school building at Jamestown on Saturday March 14 1914 at two oclock in the afternoon.
Stella Gregory and Wilbur Padgett were married at Squire Perris's office in a Saturday morning ceremony at 9:30. They traveled by train to visit the groom’s aunt east of town where a dinner awaited them before a return home on Pearl Street in Lebanon Sunday evening.
Rev O E Kelley cannot fill his appointment at Advance Christian Church next Sunday as he has been called to Mattoon I and will be absent.
While carrying ashes from his home to a rear lot on Wednesday forenoon, Uncle Henry Loop slipped on ice and cut an artery in his leg. He returned home then nearly fainted from blood loss before a physician could help. Aside from the bleeding, he is not suffering materially from the accident.
Otis Wall and Charley Patterson sold the Jamestown Garage to Wiley Smith who took possession on Wednesday. Mr Patterson plans to move to Lebanon and work at Brenton's Garage. Mr Wall has not decided his next move.
The Crawfordeville Journal reports Luella Cox died at 4 30 this morning at 210 North Pine Street, two days after her mother in the same home. Relatives say her prolonged illness and the death of her mother hastened her passing. A double funeral was held at First United Brethren church with interment in Masonic Cemetery. Rev G L Stine led the service. The Douglas family was well known locally and mourns the loss of both mother and daughter.
Providence Charley Thompson is able to be on again. Several from this locality attended the sale last Friday and Saturday. Mr. Frank Shanks is improving. Rev. Homer Dale filled his regular appointment here last Sunday morning and evening.

Five contestants vie for the silver medal in an temperance declamation hosted by the Women's Christian Temperance Union at Advance Christian Church. The event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday with no admission fee, but offerings are welcome.
