S. J. Edringtons Barn Burns In Lightning Strike
A barn near Advancee owned by S. J. Edrington was struck by lightning last Saturday evening and burned to ash. Insurance of 500 dollars covered the barn and its contents. Plows harrow and other farming gear were lost. a calf perished trying to escape. Fifty bushels of corn 200 bushels of oats and about 29 tons of hay were destroyed. Horses and wagon escaped with effort by workers. total loss estimated at several thousand dollars.

Tuesday afternoon a street fight occurred involving Lou and Ren Powell against John and Lewis Owens. After an accusation of theft sparked the dispute the Powell men assaulted John and Lewis Owens. J B Beaver filed an affidavit, Squire Hamilton issued a warrant, a hearing was held at 8:53 p m with the Owens brothers absent. The Powell brothers were fined four dollars each.
