Sugar Limits Hit Indiana August Allotment and Food Policy
Indiana reduces August sugar allotment to 8,883,000 pounds from a prior practice with per capita limits set at 2 pounds monthly for retailers and 90 meals per 2 pounds for hotels and restaurants. Saccharin use rises amid sugar shortages, while egg and beef trade data show high consumption and strong exports. Local administrators enforce substitution rules and penalties for improper feed and substitutes in bakeries and crafts.
