The Monitor, directed by Chas. Tansell, is a new Lebanon publication on our exchange table. It aims to better enforce the law and shows a clean sheet with strong advertising patronage from the start.
A country school teacher boxed a pupil’s ears last week. The pupil’s mother reported it and the teacher received a note defending punishment. The note says nature provides a proper place for punishment and it is not on the ear, and asks to use it hereafter.
Notice to owners instructs removal of all fences from side ditches along the public highway and prohibition on placing rubbish by the roadside or in the ditch. By order of the Board of Commissioners.
In Lebanon this week readers learn Prank Dale’s restaurant sits at the northwest corner of the square with a fifteen cent lunch and first class accommodations. Local businessman J Southwick plans to relocate restaurant stock to Jamestown next week while Wayne Wyane departs for New York firm work. The John Po Servies Canning Co. cannot meet tonics needs and will relocate its plant. acres of tomatoes were promised but the venture proceeds uncertainly.
The first of the new ten dollar buffalo bills entered circulation November 1. The note features a charging buffalo and is the largest single figure on a treasury note. Many notes returned to the treasury due to damage or disfigurement, as they were released before proper curing amid high demand for ten dollar bills.
The second survey conducted on Tuesday covered East Main street to Bean school house. It followed an unsatisfactory first survey and revealed a number of changes.

A Tuesday night wind storm damaged Shilo Christian Church. A door blew open and wind raged inside tearing plaster and cracking walls as a plate timber was shifted. The building is insured and members await the adjuster before repairs start.
A rustic day in rural life describes a farmer rising at dawn to feed animals, plow, split wood, and tend cattle and horses. At noon the farmer answers a letter about college expenses and sends funds to his son, then attends a town meeting at dusk. Some insist farming is a continuous burden rather than joy.
