The Adelaide Times announces a large assortment of new and splendid printed goods. The proprietor offers to print news work and various descriptions with high quality letter-press printing. Competitive terms are claimed. The ad notes the office location opposite the Adelaide Commercial Exchange.
A local amateur band presents a program including vocal and instrumental pieces. Performers listed include Mr Webster Colonel Lambert Mr Lambert Doctor Cantwell Miss Lazar and Mr Ellard with solos and duets. The Lottery Ticket farce closes after a grand German march and a Carnival of Venice violin solo. Tickets from Mr Coppin and others, doors open 7.30, boxes at 2s 6d, pit seating.
Advertises farm sale at Meadows Milton with horses Milton and Egremont imported from Van Diemen's Land. Mentions prizes won in 1845 1846 1850 and 1851 at Campbell Town Mount Barker and other shows. Lists terms two guineas and a half and liberal advances for shipments to London or Liverpool. Samuel Hart Adelaide importer announces shift from retail to wholesale and thanks customers.
Daily expectations list 218 packages from British and 138 from other consignments. Names include Lind Wow New York Fackee-10 Midtotham Wy Boy TF oe Francia Wiley-25 and Gipney Queen Bre 8 Princess Trees-580. Sept. 25, 1850.
Neil Bidstrup advertises cedar logs of 16 to 20 feet and cedar boards of all sizes, plus deals battens and battens, shingles, battens, and various timber products. The notice also promotes a Parisian patterns department with fabrics, laces, bonnets, stays, muslins, and a wide range of ready for export goods.
Sitate, bone and strength horse Sampson, superior wagon stallion, to stand at Hinduiarsh Bridge Hold and every Saturday at the Black Ball Hindley-street Adelie, and Tuesdays Bradys Cross Keys New Inn Dey rock. Reported from Campbell Town 1844 as a three year old stallion of the day. Praised as powerful with strong fertility and foul getter. Good pulls 25 6d per week with abolition paid. terms £2 2s each more.
Cantab imported from England to New South Wales by Lt. Kater in 1839 on the Euphrates at 18 months old. The horse passed through several hands including William Rutledge and Scott of Glendun before being purchased by someone named MPR. Cantab’s style and breeding are noted as racinglike with many progeny proving handy and strong.
Mr Coppin introduces Cantle to breeders in South Australia with high confidence in Neill as a top stock option. The Annual Cup prize rises to fifty guineas in 1858 for Cantube stock, with South Australian Jockey Club standards. Mares at Royal Exchange stables or Reed Deds receive grooming and care, three shillings weekly, prepaid.
A historical listing from Abraham Scott at Blyth's Building detailing tradesmen goods and fabrics. It enumerates ladies and children's boots, leather goods, greasks buckskins and various garments, plus oils, medicines, and packing equipment in an old London style catalog.
A notice announces a well known horse to stand for cover at Norman's Willaston Hotel and various venues including Oak Lodge Little Pera and Mr B Greig's Stables Black Bull Adelaide. The stallion, six years old with dark brown and black points, is described as a sure foal getter. The book will go with the horse and terms are 2s 2d? 25 6d TAS. CHAMBERS. July 22nd, 1890.
Rambler is advertised to stand for the season at Wakefield Street near the Military Barracks and at Black Bull Livery Stables each Saturday. Details describe Rawston as a rich dark bay with muscular power and symmetry bred from Van Diemen’s Land stock, with history of racing and breeding success in New South Wales and Van Diemen’s Land. Trial fees are listed as £3 19s per mare with groomage, and paddock care is offered at 23s per week. Applications go to Bassase Gaurie, Black Bull, Hindley Street, or to P. S.
