Meeting of Adams County Jacksonians at Millers Town
A large gathering of former Andrew Jackson supporters met at Isaac Robinson’s Millers Town house on Sept 1. James Wilson was elected president with Ezra Buyrun and Heenktaar Van Orsoce as vice presidents and John MP Ginley and Joseph Buugher as secretaries. A seven member drafting committee presented resolutions condemning the current administration, endorsing the U S Bank recharter, and denouncing Jackson’s veto as unconstitutional. An address to the public urged mobilization to prevent Jackson’s reelection and defend constitutional powers of Congress and the Bank.
