Great Steam Plowing Match at Chester England

Perilous horse ride ends with narrow escape in street

Elizabeth City man Mr Budell and Miss Harriet Randall of Senwh Plate were riding when the horse bolted through Cherry and Front streets. The horse tore along sidewalks near awnings and signs. Miss Randall threw herself onto the horse twice, saving her life. The rider showed reckless control before crashing into a stable door. The Gazette praises Miss Randall as an expert horsewoman. In Loudoun Virginia a camp meeting committee seized and poured out 140 gallons of whisky found being vended nearby.
