Poem-like ode praising joyful children in the street and their innocence. The voice invokes the Savior’s blessing and tenderness, hoping for their continued happiness and gentle hearts as evening settles.
A reflective verse on forgiveness as a mercy sweet to king, Jesus, and weary hearts. It laments harshness among kin, praises gentle words, and urges forgiving the wrongs we bear to ease burdens and heal souls.
A column extols cheerful home life and neighborly warmth, contrasting bright windows with closed shutters. It recalls a Rochester to Albany train tale where a boy returns two ten dollar gold pieces found with two apples, praising honesty and the inner reward over monetary gain.
Before the American Board meeting in Cleveland, delegates were offered lodging with local hosts. A couple misinterpreted the arrangements, hosting a delegate and his companion as guests, believing they were invited travelers.
