Captain’s drum renamed in Portsmouth mishap
A militia captain visiting Portsmouth for a bass drum found the drum bore E Pluribus Unum in an eagle’s beak. He learned it was the company’s name and had the phrase erased replaced with the head of the company and the eagle bearing the drum’s new name.
