A letter from Beverly Wilson, an emigrant to Liberia aboard the Jupiter, details Monrovia's rapid growth, forts, and trade. He notes fever deaths among fellow emigrants, local Sabbath schools, farming prospects, diverse visitors from interior regions, and observations on sugar cane, coffee, and livestock. Reports on Algerian colony costs, French politics, and Mexican church seizures appear in passing.
