By an act passed at the last Pennsylvania legislature the constables are required to return to the Clerk of the Court of Quarter Sessions, on or before the August term, an sworn list of all wholesale and retail dealers in foreign merchandise and liquors within their districts, to the best of their knowledge, dated June 29.
Governor Gilmer proclaims that by December 1829 act the Cherokee lands within Georgia are annexed to Carrol DeKalb Gwinnett Hall and Habersham counties and subjected to Georgia law from June. It nullifies Cherokee laws and imposes severe penalties for emigrants, witnesses, or defiance, warning Indians and citizens to uphold the law.
