Report from the Vinton Iowa Eagle dated the 11th describes four or five men hanged in Perry township Tama county Iowa on the Gil inst. The executions took place in a woods with one man suspended from a six foot high maple tree and others bound in various positions for execution. A school teacher named Orin Carpenter aged about sixty collapsed and died while punishing a pupil near Pittsburg. The causes are given as mental excitement in the death.
