From the New York Observer a circular appeals to benevolent American women to petition Congress to protect American Indian nations facing land seizure and extinction. It argues Indians are independent nations, warns of state encroachments, cites laws threatening their removal, and urges female moral influence to prevent catastrophe.
Dr J K Mitchell of Philadelphia reports that caoutchoue becomes soft after exposure to ether and can be inflated by breath to near transparency, capable of rising with hydrogen when filled and formed into various shapes.
