Senate petition on Sanborn kidnapping cited in conspiracy case

Senator Sumner recounts the petition of I B Sanborn of Concord Massachusetts alleging a gross kidnapping attempt by persons posing as Senate agents. The affair involved arrest warrants, a mob rescue at Concord and a habeas corpus discharge. Sanborn refused to appear, citing fear of violence. The matter was laid on the table after committee referral and interest from Mr Mason and Mr Fessenden.
