Clarence Myers seventeen of New Oxford was struck by a buggy shaft causing serious injuries and a punctured lung. He received preliminary care at Dr George Leaks and was transported to York hospital for an operation. The incident occurred near the railroad crossing as Myers rode home from work at a shoe factory and the Cumberland Valley Telephone exchange.

State moves to take over township roads in Adams County
The State Highway Department finalized plans to assume township highways across Adams County and other counties. A law signed July 22 by Governor Tener sets up district townships supervisors and a bureau of township highways. The act changes terms of office and requires district supervision, with elections for four and six year terms. Road taxes will fund half of the township road budget, and the office of township clerk is abolished. Farmers lose road tax work credits.
