Leo Claybaugh and Clarence Cassatt were sentenced by Judge Swope to serve time at the Huntingdon Reformatory for a burglary at the Weikert store near Round Top. The conviction followed a guilty plea in August and testimonies by Frank and Paul Twoomey and others about threats and attempted intimidation.

Mervin Kepner of Highland Township suffered a severe hand injury at his father’s cider mill when his right hand was caught in the gearing. He reached for the driving wheel to fix a fault, and the gear tore flesh from three fingers.

Ervin Black of Mt. Joy township has installed a Samson windmill and a large cistern holding 100 barrels with piping to the house barn and poultry yard. Culvert Project Completed on Route 12 in Chambersburg Area
The new culvert between the Wirt and Gulden farms on route 12 is finished. Supervisor Howard Spangler prepared a fine approach, improving the road for several hundred yards on each side of the culvert.

Man severely injured when horse falls on Charles Bushey
Charles Bushey of Cranberry near York Springs, about two miles from Aspers, was struck by a horse that jumped during mounting. He suffered a dislocated hip and severe shock but is reported to be improving under Dr. E W Cashman with Doctors Stewart and Dalbey aiding from Gettysburg. surgery to reset the hip was performed and an early recovery is expected.

State Road project advances toward Brushtown
McSherrystown September 24. Contractor W B Johnston of Spring Grove leads work on the new State Road from the Borough line through Brushtown to the Niederer farm a three mile stretch. The crew aims to finish the Brushtown section before cold weather. Miss Corn Ridenour Dies in Carlisle at 20
Miss Corn Ridenour formerly of Gettysburg died Saturday at 12 45 PM at her parents home in Carlisle. In the 21st year of age she had been ill with tuberculosis and confined to the house for weeks. A member of the U B church she was described as bright and interesting, leaving parents and two sisters Mrs Lillie Anderson and Mrs Esther Anderson of Harrisburg as survivors.
