Fairfield Wins Pair of Close Games in two road contests

Fairfield defeated Irishtown by 9 to 8 in a ninth inning rally at home and beat Monterey Country Club 7 to 5 on Later Day, scoring two decisive runs in the final frame. Swope’s pitching held Monterey down as Fairfield earned its first win over them this season. Through 22 games this season, Fairfield has 10 victories, the longest schedule in Adams county. Waynesboro visits on Saturday with a 3 p.m. start.

Newcomer and Thorn Wedding Ties Gettysburg to Capitol City

Frank M. Newcomer of Gettysburg and Nellie E. Thorn of Harrisburg wed in the Capitol City at two o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Rev. J. B. Markward of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiated. They depart for a wedding trip through Maryland and West Virginia and will live in Harrisburg upon return while future home plans are decided. The bride, daughter of Chief Clerk George P.
