Multiple obituaries from Maryland and Pennsylvania towns recount the deaths of Mrs. Anna Cashman Reinecker in Butler township aged 52, and Frederick Welty, John Shulley, John Decker, Mrs. Edgar Wentz, and Mrs. Abbie Auchey in nearby communities. Surviving relatives include children, siblings, and spouses. Funeral details, churches, and cemeteries are listed for each case.
Miss Rachael C Gulden died at 9:45 AM Thursday at the home of Philip Weaver in Straban township aged 33 years 5 months and 23 days. She had lived with the Weaver family for 32 years and is survived by her father John M Golden a brother and a sister Mrs John Wagner of York. Funeral services will be held at the Weaver home Saturday morning with interment at Goodyear conducted by Rev. E E Dietterich.
Several death notices from Cumberland township and Arendtsville list Mrs Summerfield Staller Stuer who died at her Emmitsburg road home at about 40, her husband and three children as survivors, and funeral arrangements set. Baby Harry Luther Heagy died at 24 days, with parents and siblings noted. John Keller Haines brother of Cornelius Haines is buried after services in Arendtsville. Mrs Emily Wagaman died in Charmian aged 71 with funeral at Bethel church and interment beside the church.
McKnightstown Reformed church holds Harvest Home services Sunday at 10 00 led by Rev E W Stonebaker returning from Europe and the Holy Land. Also Church of the Parthren Marsh Creek hosts Communion Saturday afternoon and evening with services Sunday morning at Marsh Creek at 10 and Stratton Street Church at 7 30 led by Rev F H Hollinger from Washington DC. Salem Morning services noted. In Gettysburg Sabbath activities include Sunday school 9 30 normal class 10 30 Junior society 2 00 Christian Endeavor 6 30 and preaching 7 40 on Judgment by Daniel B Straley otsew Oxford business visitor today.
The Adams County Sunday School convention wrapped up in Abbottstown after two days of sessions with delegates from 95 county schools. Presiding was Rev J Ed Gill with music led by IL Taylor, highlighting leadership as magnetic and masterful.
The York Silk Manufacturing Company of York was declared bankrupt in federal court at Scranton by Judge Archbald after a creditor petition. Attorney George E Neff of York was appointed receiver, posted a $25,000 bond, and the company admitted insolvency.
The McKnightstown and Cashtown Reformed Sunday schools announce their annual picnic at Cashtown this Saturday. A large crowd is expected. dinner will be served, no supper. Attendees are urged to arrive at the picnic grounds in the morning.
A Washington dispatch reports War Department probes into typhoid cases in Company A, First Battalion, Engineer Corps, and Troop A, Maryland Cavalry. Officials suspect exposure at Gettysburg during July and August while soldiers drank from wells near camps. Investigators may test local water sources and interview other units stationed there.
A large gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lerew near New Chester celebrated Margaret Lerew’s birthday with friends including the Beamer and March families. Also noted is the Hamiltonian township teachers meeting set for Weeping Willow school with topics on busy work spelling and school sanitary arrangements.
Luther Patterson of near Round Top was driving on East Middle street by Baltimore when his horse bolted after a fright. The buggy hit a tree and the harness tore allowing the horse to escape. The animal was caught soon after. no one was hurt and damage was minimal.
The Rice Brothers Produce Company launches a new produce business from the Biglerville warehouse with Oscar C. Rice handling the Biglerville end and Arthur C. Rice serving as the Philadelphia representative.
A mare owned by G. Harry Jacobs of Highland township was killed Wednesday after rabies developed. Dr. E B Hudson diagnosed rabies Sunday and quarantined the horse, with brain tissue to be sent to Philadelphia. The infection traced to a mad dog bite between Two Taverns and Barlow about a month earlier.
Thomas Brothers of Biglerville prepare to erect a three story store and office building on the Lawyer Corner south east corner of the Square. The site was bought by the Biglerville National Bank and later sold to the builders. The first floor and basement will house stores, the second floor offices, and the third a hall.

A woman on Chambersburg Street says she found an honest man after her purse was left on her front step. A colored man passing by rang the door bell and handed the purse to the owner who had not realized the pocketbook was missing despite many passersby.
On Sunday Oscar D. Mummert son of Levi Mummert of Penn township York county and Miss Elsie Myers near Blooming Grove wed in East Berlin. Rev D B Lan of Hanover conducted the ceremony on his farm during vacation near East Berlin.
Mrs Samuel Singley of Fairfield, 76, shot a three foot six inch owl resting on her house roof during early evening. The incident occurred as she sat on her porch and used a gun to dispatch the bird.
The Soldiers and Sailors of the Southern Pennsylvania District Association G. 4. A. postpones its ninth annual reunion in Gettysburg from October to 1911. Most veterans plan to attend the state memorial dedication on the 27th, with few likely to return soon after. Calvin Hamilton and Milton A. Embick sign as district leaders.
John Smith aged 80 known as John the Ditcher for supervising many ditches was found dead at night on Jacob Schidel farm one mile from Hagerstown. He was last seen alive in the afternoon in good health. He had long runs with Gettysburg authorities and spent time in the Grettysburg lock-up.
Pen Mar park records its best year in a decade with strong visitor, hotel, cottage, and boarding house business. Farmers from adjacent counties convene for Farmers Day with Hon. A L Martin and ex Governor Edwin Warfield expected to attend and speak on agricultural topics.

Ruth Mears from route 12 visits Baltimore friends. Mary E Black from route 12 visits Steelton and Middletown relatives. Russel Ditzler spends a week with grandparents John and Mrs Ditzler on route 12. Mrs L M Slenta and Emma Kahn visit William John and wife on route 10.
Two more pupils entered the Freshman class as the high school library opened today with about 1000 volumes. Absent this week were Bertha Oyler 12 Pauline Ruch ill 12 Daisy Wentz 12 Rosella Gilbert 14 Ruth Gilbert 14 and Emily McDonnell 14. The Junior class met Thursday evening electing Daniel Skelly president George Kendlehart vice president and Margaret Coover secretary.
The marriage of Paul B. Dunbar of Washington and Alice Lenore Davison of Norfolk Virginia occurred in Norfolk on September 7. Dunbar is noted locally for his prominence. Coulson Brothers started a new 40 by 70 feet two story brick building at Paradise Orphanage near Abbotstown to serve as a laundry. Water supply will come from an artesian well and be pumped by compressed air powered by two large boilers.
