Gettysburg Firemen Endure Heat in Great Parade
Gettysburg firemen marching in Chester for a large five division parade endured intense heat. About 28 men in light brown uniforms joined the Citizens Band in the fourth division as crowds offered ice water and lemonade. The seven mile route plus countermarches tested the crews, with Gettysburg receiving applause and planning for a big Harrisburg turnout in 1914.

Buggy overturn injures Mr and Mrs Slentz at Meade School
On Thursday night at nine, the Slentzes driver and passenger were thrown from their buggy when it overturned near the Meade School building. The horse was injured and Mrs Slentz was unconscious briefly while both occupants suffered bruises. The vehicle and horse require repairs.
