Gettysburg High Earns First Grade Status and More Funding
The Gettysburg High School achieved first grade status after inspection by State School Inspector W S Hertzog. The upgrade includes an annual appropriation increase of about 200 dollars, raising Gettysburg’s funding from 600 to roughly 800 and prompting plans to add stenography and typewriter options to strengthen the commercial course. The Board, principal, and teachers receive credit for improvements across the four year program.

Deaf Man Killed By Freight Train Near Greencastle
Trueman Lininger about five years old was killed instantly on the Cumberland Valley railroad a mile from Greencastle Friday afternoon at 8 30. He stopped on the track ten feet from an approaching freight train and was thrown by the engine, dying of broken ribs. An undertaker removed the body to Greencastle. He was deaf and as a result did not hear the whistle. He leaves several married daughters.
