Accident at Renser Furniture Factory injures worker
Clinton Stine of East Middle Street sustained a painful but not serious head injury this morning at the Renser Furniture Company plant. A piece of scantling fell in the drying kiln, cutting a deep gash on his head and narrowly missing a scattering of nails. He is expected to recover.

Rev Eugene Halstermeyer Dies at 54 in Philadelphia
The Rev Eugene Halstermeyer rector of Conewago Chapel died at Medico-Chi Hospital in Philadelphia following an appendicitis operation. A native of Alsace Lorraine now under German rule since 1873, he was 54 and had served as rector at Conewago Chapel for eight years. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday September 27.

Tramp Killed On Pennsylvania Railroad Tracks
James Fisher alias Corbett a 55 year old tramp was struck and killed by a passenger train between MecSherrystown road and Plum Creek on Monday evening at 7 25. He and two companions were drinking. the inquest was waived and railroad officials deemed blameless. Fisher known as a race horse rider from Long Island had no known relatives. Funeral held from Bairs with interment at Mt Olivet Hanover officiated by Rev A M Heilman. Train crew were Armor D Sell and Charles Cline.

Aged mother testifies in Maryland murder case
In Elkton Maryland an 81 year old mother testified under unusual circumstances in the case of Scott Johnson accused of murdering James McAllister of Rowlandsville on May 31. Johnson was captured near Abbottstown weeks earlier and later escaped briefly on the Pacific coast before surrendering. The mother’s deposition will be submitted if she dies before trial.
