Mystery surrounds shooting of George Wolf near Baltimore Pike
Mystery surrounds the shooting of George Wolf near town Friday afternoon about four thirty. Wolf, employed by the Gettysburg National Park Commission, was shot in the back while his horse drank at a run from the Lightner ice house pond into Rock Creek. A 82 caliber bullet was recovered and removed, with investigators pointing to a single likely direction and a hunter seen in the area that afternoon. Wolf, 4 years old, is recovering under nervous shock as an investigation continues and possible arrest awaits further evidence. A small audience attended the first Winter Band concert in the Court House that evening.

Horse Races Crippled Man After Runaway near McSherrystown
J H Hostetter of Thinover and Clark L Smith of Lancaster drove a buggy when a runaway horse toppled the vehicle. Smith, a cripple, had his left shoulder dislocated and suffered bruises. Hostetter leaped clear. the horse calmed, and the injured man was cared for by Drs A C Rice and George L Rice before being taken to Lancaster.

Condition Improving For Union Label Advocate
Mrs I B Khan of McSherrystown left Tuesday for Mount Hope Sanitarium near Baltimore to bring home her husband a well known Union Label advocate who has been under treatment for three months for a general nervous breakdown. Trustees form board for orphanage near Two Taverns
The Hoard of Directors of the George Wu and Agnes Goffman Or phanage, near Twe Waverns, met in Hanover on Tuesday and transacted a great deal of business toward opening the institution to receive children. Rev. J. Stewart Martman, of Woodstock, Virginia, was elected superintendent and will have charge under the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee includes Dr. T J. Barkles, chairman, and Dr. Ellis S. Hay, secretary. A committee was appointed to secure incorporation and draft constitution and by laws. The board plans to ready the property for use soon. buildings need repairs, fences down, and some new structures may be erected. The facility lies about two and a half miles from Two Taverns on the road to Harney. The board convened at Woodstock Synod. Members include Revs. Dr. T. J. Barkey, F. S. Lindaman, Ellis S. Hay, E. Mail driver gored by steer breaks leg above ankle
On November 26 Charles Lerew the mail driver was kicked by a steer while returning with the morning mail and placing horses in the stable. The kick broke his leg above the ankle and caused injuries beyond a simple fracture. He received aid at the scene.

Furney, Civil War Veteran, Dies at Mount Joy Area
John Furney Sr aged in his 70s of Mount Joy and Cumberland townships died following illness. A native of the county and lifelong farmer and former blacksmith, he served in Co G, Pennsylvaniavolunteers in the Civil War and belonged to Corporal Skelly Post 4. Survived by his wife and children John Waynesboro William Philadelphia Mrs Clara Carbaugh New Windsor Marsland Frank and Dana Furney Cumberland township, one sister Catharine Deatrick Two Taverns, one brother William Furney near New Oxford. Funeral from his late home Friday at ten o clock with burial in National Cemetery. Rev G W Sherrick presiding.

Boy Killed on Wagon in Emmitsburg Tragedy
A ten year old boy, Harry Francis Hardagan, son of Mrs Helen Hardagan of Emmitsburg, died after slipping under the wheel of a heavy four horse wagon driven by John Co Eyler. He was riding on the wagon's lazy board and was fatally injured, dying fifteen minutes later from internal rupture. He had accompanied the driver on trips for Rev Dr Murray and day of the accident he rode as usual but became tired. The body was taken to Mr Linggood's house. Dr Stone could not save him. The widow mother, employed at St Joseph's Academy, survives with one brother and four sisters.
