Anniversary of Lincoln Oration at Gettysburg
Gettysburg marked the fiftieth anniversary of the National Cemetery consecration with a public program at Walter's Theatre. Teachers and citizens heard memories of Lincoln's 1863 visit from Prof. Calvin Hamilton, Judge William McClean, Dr. T. C. Billheimer, and Dr. Philip M. Bikle, followed by Rev. Joseph B. Baker delivering the principal oration. Ex-Governor J. Frank Hanly and Ralph Parlette joined remarks, ending with an "America" rendition and benediction by Dr. Wagner.

Fifty two head of advanced registered Guernseys sold at Edgewater Farms Canandaigua New York by F G Benham and Son for 25215 dollars averaging 484 90 each. Ten American bred Guernseys brought 1003 dollars average with Rosa of Cherrydale bought by F M Warburg White Plains New York for 2625 dollars. Cherry of Edgewater calf sold for 1700 dollars. Cattle on Dr D B Lady’s farm near Arendtsville are registered Guernseys including Mary Marshall, lineage from C J Tyson of Flora Dale.

Child Suffocation Death in German Township
Allen Willis aged 15 months, son of Mr and Mrs Willis Staley of Germany Township, died about midnight Wednesday November 12. The child had been sleeping in the kitchen when a fire broke out in the parents absence. Authorities believe death resulted from smoke inhalation.

Risked Lives To Save Child In Runaway Buggy
A horse owned by Mrs. Peter Fleshman ran loose with a four year old in a buggy through New Oxford. A. P. Wagner and J. C. Bierly grabbed the animal, held on as it dragged them for yards, and freed the child. They narrowly missed a telephone pole before securing control and reuniting the family.

Ice Cream Reception At Gettysburg Ice and Storage Plant
The Gettysburg Ice and Storage Company hosted a public reception on Wednesday afternoon drawing over two thousand visitors between two and four. Attendees consumed more than one hundred gallons of ice cream and about twenty five gallons of milk while touring the plant’s departments and operations. Employees began serving guests before the official start time, and many stayed after closing to accommodate the crowd.
