County resident commits death by own action near McSherrys town
William J. Brown, 41, farmer on the Kindig farm near Hanover, died by self inflicted gunshot shortly after 10 am Wednesday. Despondent over ill health and nervous trouble, he left a note for his father then shot himself in the buggy shed as threshers gathered in the barn. He leaves wife Julia Kepner Brown and children Grover James William Edna, plus his father, brother and sister. Funeral Sunday at 9 am with service at the house and burial in New Oxford cemetery. Rev. George N. Lauffer officiating.

Typhoid Takes College Boy Hoy Diehl in Greencastle
Hoy Diehl a Sophomore at the college died at his Greencastle home from typhoid fever after his brother’s illness and death. A cheery Alpha Tau Omega member with athletic interest, he moved from sub fresh to Sophomore this fall and was well liked by classmates and townspeople. His family includes his mother and several siblings. his father had died earlier.

Must Enforce Compulsory School Attendance By Gettysburg Board

Quarry accident injures Union Township man
Charles Scheivert of Union Township was struck by a falling stone at the Hanover and Littlestown Turnpike Company quarry near Bollinger's Mall. He fell 35 feet, fracturing his right ankle and breaking his left kneecap, and is under care of Dr. H. M. Alleman.

Gettysburg marks to cost 69500 for 189 monuments
The National Park Service plans to place sixty four Confederate brigade markers at Gettysburg by month end, each about 500 dollars, totaling around 32000. Next year seventy five Union markers will be added at similar cost with possible design changes to include corps badges. The project aims to make Gettysburg the best marked battlefield.

Miss Mas Musselman Falls From Horse Near Fairfield
Miss Mas Musselman of Hamiltonian township near Fairfield was thrown from her horse and dragged unconscious for a time. She sustained shock but no bones were broken and began improving later in the day. Dr. Lieber left for Chicago for several months.
