Bear sighting on South mountain near Caledonia
John D. Rice reports an unusual bear sighting while driving to White Pine Sanatorium. About two miles from the park a half grown cub appeared on the road, caused the party to spook and flee ahead of the horses, then retreat to the road before the cub disappeared into the timber.

Automobile hits rope at Centre Square warning light
Cr G Taughinbaugh failed to see a rope across Baltimore street entrance at Centre Square Tuesday evening and drove into it. The radiator cap struck the windshield, breaking glass but causing no other damage. Taughinbaugh says the lantern was unlit, while witnesses dispute this.

Gettysburg council targets auto guides as nuisance

Organizing New Bank In Baltimore Under Way
John W Bigham formerly cashier of the Biglerville National Bank is organizing a new Baltimore bank awaiting a capital of 250000 and surplus of 50000. David M Wolf from Gettysburg will join the board. W Cox proprietor of the City Hotel Frederick and other automobile enthusiasts plan a two day run through Maryland and southern Pennsylvania. About 80 to 100 cars with 300 to 460 persons will participate. Route could start mid June from Frederick over Emmitsburg pike to Thurmont then Gettysburg Dillsburg Harrisburg Columbia Wrightsville York Hanover and back to Emmitsburg. If only one day chosen, route shortened to allow time for an hour stop at Gettysburg.
Peculiar Accident Strikes 15 Year Old Curtis Topper
Curtis Topper, 15, son of Mr and Mrs Samuel Topper, of Latimer Hoke farm Conewago township, fell while climbing to the roof of a summer kitchen. The door latch pierced his abdomen. Dr A C Rice of McSherrystown dressed the wound after several stitches. His condition is serious and internal injuries are possible, with several days needed to determine the extent.
