Golden Eagles Hold State Convention in Gettysburg
Several hundred Knights of the Golden Eagle and Ladies of the Golden Eagle gathered in Walter's Theatre for their annual convention. District Attorney E S Neely welcomed delegates, Grand High Priest Eleut led prayers, and Grand Chief Charles Denby spoke of the order's aims. A photograph of the founder was presented for future transfer to Pennsylvania’s Grand Castle and supreme body.

Knights of Golden Eagle parade in Gettysburg event
A thousand knights in uniform led by Harry Reinicke of Philadelphia marched through Gettysburg with about six bands for the annual state convention of the Knights of the Golden Eagle. Prizes were awarded for distance and number of men in line, with Williamsport and Oley Castle among the winners. The gathering installed officers for the coming year and elected nominees for next year’s leadership, while the Ladies of the Golden Eagle elected officers and the convention closed with thanks to town officials and the press.

The York County Agricultural Society plans to enclose its entire property this summer, expanding the exhibition grounds by about fourteen acres. The decision was made at a board of managers meeting.

Young Fairfield Man Dies Following Cherry Run Train Crash

Four College Students End Three Day Fast
Four students from a college completed a three day fast eating nothing since Saturday evening. Paul Brown of Smithsburg W L Reithmuiller of Indiana P S Miller of Hanover and J D Diehl of work abstained entirely though water. They read in a physical culture magazine that resting digestion is beneficial and kept their promise. They endured hunger after the first day and resumed eating with care using orange juice before resuming normal meals.

State Police to establish Carlisle substation near Capitol

Rev W J D Scherer Dies After Illness in Burkittsville
Rev W J D Scherer formerly of Fairfield and Woodstock died at 6 40 am Thursday at his Burkittsville home from pneumonia and heart disease. He was born in Roanoke Virginia, a Gettysburg Seminary graduate, and served Lutheran churches in Fairfield Woodstock and Burkittsville and a New Jersey church. Surviving are his wife Mary A Bigham and three children Margaret Elizabeth and Jenne Belle Scherer. Henry Musser president of Littlestown Silk died in York Monday afternoon. He helped found York Silk Company and led Monarch Littlestown and Acme Hosiery ventures and York Neckwear Company.

Dog Attack Destroys Magistrate's Colt in Mont Alto Stable
A blooded colt owned by Magistrate H. M. Small of Mont Alto was fatally attacked in its stall Tuesday night by Mr Small's own dog. The one year old animal valued at $100 suffered fatal injuries after the attack. The dog had been quartered in the stable with the colt, and the owner did not anticipate any aggression.

Death of Thurmont brakeman in railroad accident
Harry Gaugh, 23, son of Marshall E. Gaugh of Thurmont, a brakeman on the Washington Frederick and Gettysburg railroad, was crushed between two cars at Catoctin Furnace. Rushed to Thurmont then to Frederick City Hospital by special train, he died aboard the train on arrival.
