The seventh annual Christian Endeavor convention of this county met at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Biglerville. Delegates from twenty societies, totaling 40, reported strong membership of 1263. new Mount Tabor society added 65 members to Adams County. Officers elected for the coming year include Prof. G Fred Troxell president and W A Sheely vice president.

Local residents mourn multiple deaths in Mount Joy and nearby towns
Martin Slagle aged about 72 died at his barn in Mount Joy township while feeding chickens his daughter found him lifeless. Survived by six daughters and four sons living in varied states with funeral at Harney Lutheran church and burial in Woodsboro cemetery. Mrs Henry Slonaker died at her home from heart disease aged 74 years 7 months and 25 days with several children and siblings surviving. Conrad Smith of Bonneauville died aged about 76 from complications of diseases with wife and four daughters among survivors. funeral at St Josephs Catholic Church Bonnauville officiated by Rev Hugens.

Samuel Berlin Dies at 91 in Tyrone Pennsylvania
Samuel Berlin of Tyrone Pennsylvania died at his home on Friday at age 91. A native of Abbottstown he was educated there and later moved to Tyrone where he ran a drug business. He held several borough offices during his residence.

Rattlesnake Escapes Twice After Gettysburg Find
Oscar Dean and J Edward Lowe Jr two Gettysburg Theological Seminary students encountered a four foot rattlesnake Sunday near Mont Alto. After striking it with rocks they believed it dead, but the snake revived in a buggy box and later crawled free at the seminary. It was finally turned over to the Biological Department for chloroform and dissection.

Hailstorms Hit Blue Ridge Summit Pen Mar and Buchanan Valley
Hailstones as large as marbles fell near Blue Ridge Summit and at Pen Mar on Tuesday afternoon around 3 o'clock. The storm lasted about five minutes at each location with little or no structural damage, chiefly injuring flowering plants set out by cottagers. Hail was also reported from Buchanan Valley.
