CURB MARKET OPENS ON CENTRE SQUARE FOR 1913 SEASON
Centre Square opened at 6 am on Thursday for the curb market season of 1913 with about six wagons. Holiday timing reduced attendance and some early hawkers were reported selling on the streets during market hours. Market Master Miller rang the bell as vegetables led by asparagus onions rhubarb and eggs appeared. fifteen stalls are taken for the season with more planned by June first.

Gifts for School Show Various World Gifts from Canal Zone
For over an hour 8 M Bushman entertained High School pupils with travels through the Canal Zone. Frederick County Court Grants Liquor License to Bidding er
In a Wednesday session the Frederick County Court granted George W. Bidding er, formerly of Woodsboro, a license to sell liquor at the Hotel Slagle in Emmitsburg. The panel kept under advisement the protest against L. L. Mundorff of Emmitsburg, who leases the Emmitt House and seeks a liquor license there. Testimony showed minors obtained liquor at Mundorff saloon, now at Hotel Slagle.

Funeral for General Henry Clay Cochrane at Chester
General Henry Clay Cochrane died Sunday and was buried in Chester rural cemetery with Taps at the grave. The Rev. Francis M. Taitt delivered the sermon at St Paul’s Episcopal Church while marines from League Island Navy Yard and Wilde Post, Grand Army of the Republic, attended in honor. Gaskins Band Mobilizes for Gettysburg Encampment
Officers of the Third Regiment Sons of Veterans met in Sunbury and ordered a special Pennsylvania train to Gettysburg for the encampment from June 22 to 29. The Gaskins Military Band of Sunbury will accompany. The regiment's territory spans from Mahanoy City to Williamsport.
