Mrs Elizabeth J Shively died at her Fairfield home after a stair fall caused internal injuries. She was near age stated in weeks, longtime resident and Presbyterian, wife of the late Peter Shively who ran a local hotel. Amos Stonesifer Dies at 78 in Orrtanna Area
Amos Stonesifer died at his home near Orrtanna at four o'clock Sunday morning aged 78. He was twice married with children from both marriages surviving. The funeral was held Tuesday with the body taken to Littletown for interment.

Funeral Saturday morning from the 10.23 train over the Reading with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

State Senators Visit Gettysburg Battlefield Trip
Twenty nine State Senators and House members with a few friends arrived in Gettysburg at nine o clock Wednesday evening and stayed until four o clock Thursday afternoon to view the battlefield. Captain Long guided the party and Holtz worth Brothers provided teams. They stayed at the Eagle Hotel and were entertained by three Italian musicians. The trip, a pleasure visit invited by Senator William A. Martin, included numerous named senators and representatives and staff members. Senator Herbst discussed Governor Stuart's cross state highway plan, saying he would vote against it unless roads are built first.

The State Agricultural train visited Littlestown on a Wednesday drawing many residents. Prof Gardner spoke on corn amid local industry including a new corn canning factory. Farmers are expanding corn acreage with typical yields around ten acres per farm. Notables present included Abraham Keagy with alfalfa on six acres and twenty five tons harvested last year, Clarence and Grove Lawyer, Ezra Shoemaker, Albert Kendig, Charles Shell, Augustus Lippy, and S. Town Council approves higher tax rate and orders bids
In an adjourned session the Town Council raised the general tax to five mills and special tax to two and three quarters, an extra quarter mill for bonds. The Finance Committee warned the rise was necessary due to anticipated expenses and new bond issues. The meeting approved purchase plans for a nine station night police registration clock and discussed sewer work, street stone bids, rail nuisance letters, and a $20 repair bill linked to sewer rights.

Horses Dying Plague Hits Abbottstown Area
March reports show heavy losses as several horses die from lockjaw and pneumonia. Raymond Hoffman of East Berlin lost a fine black horse from tetanus after a foot mishap. Elmer Spangler near Bigmount refused 200 for his horse. Other losses include Samuel Straley of Farmers and Mr. Deatrick of Reading township.
