Collides With Tree Rev Dr Owen Has Second Auto Mishap
Reverend Dr W. Owen of Hagerstown, a well known pastor, narrowly escaped serious harm after his automobile collided with a tree on Oak Hill avenue. Charge of cruelty to animals heard in New Oxford
Benjamin Starner, in charge of town dog quarantine, was fined 10 dollars and costs after a hearing before Squire R. M. Straley. Dr. R. H. Russell, agent for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, alleged Starner shot a dog belonging to John Warner and failed to end its suffering. Starner contends the dog escaped and he later attempted to locate it. The case, supported by multiple witnesses, was ruled in favor of the prosecution and will proceed to Adams county Court in April.
