LYNX AND WOLF KILLED IN BEAR VALLEY BY TRAPPER WRIGHT
In Franklin County Bear Valley trapper Philip Wright killed a two foot high lynx and a large wolf after a fierce fight. A second wolf escaped as Wright noted wolves followed deer into Bear and Horse valleys, a new experience after fifteen years in the trade.

Inauguration Lumber For Gettysburg Encampment Tents
Veterans of the Civil War will tread at Gettysburg on boards from Washington used for tent floors during the four day encampment. A Washington contractor bought 200000 feet for the east front stand at the Capitol and 60000 feet for the White House reviewing stand and will ship both to Gettysburg. The deal saved the government about 1500 in wreckage. The lumber date for arrival remains undetermined.

State Road Work Plans Outlined By Commissioner
The spring work of the State Highway Department will be outlined by Commissioner Bigelow in the coming days. He will decide which sections of state highways and which roads under state aid bids will be pursued. The department will advertise for as much work as funds allow and repair crews will start on the main highway system once weather allows. Last fall more than 6,000 of 8,000 miles under the 1911 act had been worked. the remainder will receive attention this spring, and contracts will soon be awarded for highway sections with bids opened last fall.
