Youthful Joy Ride Injures 12-Year-Old in Railway Track Incident
Roy Eltz of McSherrystown, son of John Eltz, is homebound with injuries after a gang of youths pushed a rail car onto a new railway extension track. Funeral for Rev A A Parr Draws Thirty Lutheran Ministers
The funeral for Rev. A. A. Parr was held Tuesday at 2 pm at St. Pauls Lutheran church, a member here years ago. Interment followed in the local cemetery with many flowers. Rev. Dr. E. D. Weigle preached on I Timothy 4:7, Keep the Faith, at the request of the deceased. Other clergy read scripture and led prayers as about thirty Lutheran ministers attended.

Death of Freddie Kennedy in Heidlersburg

Lewis Strayer of Latimore Township was injured Monday evening when a savage boar attacked him as he tried to drive it into a pen. The tusk pierced his thigh causing a painful wound and he remains confined to his house. Dr. Cashman treated the injuries.

First tents pitched in Gettysburg maneuver camp
An advance detail of eighteen men from Company A United States Engineers arrived in Gettysburg Wednesday evening under First Lieutenant Ball and pitched tents east of town. They were the first to camp in the maneuver area. The 29th United States Infantry with 650 foot and 50 mounted men under Major B P Pendleton will likely arrive Monday from Elmira New York to join the camp, probably at Harrisburg over Sunday. Battalion Quartermaster Baxter arranges grounds along the route. The unit travels with limited khaki tents and a machine gun platoon. The guns use the same ammo as infantry rifles and are carried on mule backs. The march progressed Williamsport Milton and onto Rolling Green Park near Sunbury.

Robert Frantz and Harry Gordon of Waynesboro hiked from Washington to Baltimore then Gettysburg before finishing the trip home to Waynesboro. They left Washington Monday morning and reached Gettysburg Tuesday night, arriving home Wednesday after a mountain trek. Parents had feared for their safety as the pair did not contact them until returning. They praised the excellent treatment received along the way.
