Former Secretary of State Fieilan der Knox and Mrs Knox from Pittsburgh with Mr and Mrs Reed Knox and son visited Gettysburg arriving Tuesday evening by car. Despondent nurse cuts throat at County Home
Mrs. Charles Strausbaugh, a night nurse in the insane department, cut her throat with a razor around one o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Her husband found her five hours later. The injury required nine stitches after Dr. Diehl treated the wound. her condition was not serious.

Nine year old Levere Baum Injured by Scythe in Field
Levere Baum, son of Ervin Baum of Gettysburg near Bermudian, was seriously injured Tuesday at 3 PM when a scythe cut across his legs. His 15 year old brother was cutting weeds nearby. One leg was nearly severed, and he bled heavily. Dr. E A Miller and Dr. T C Miller cared for him. twenty stitches were required.

Death rumor false prompts frantic bicycle trip

Catching risks again hit Patriots with injuries
The game on Wednesday saw Mahaffie break a finger and a Frederick catcher hurt. On Monday Jarosick split his hand and the Hagerstown catcher was relieved. Mahaffie will miss catching for days, with Kane or Bigler likely to bat. The Patriots face about 64 more games to recover from the misfortune.

Parade Opens Gettysburg Chautauqua Week 1915

Church Struck by Lightning Damages East Berlin Steeple
Trinity Lutheran church at East Berlin was hit by a lightning bolt during a county storm. Slate ripped from the steeple and the framework suffered damage while the interior remained unharmed. Bricks were torn from the tower and minor damage occurred around the building amid heavy rains.

Mount Tabor Station Plea Heard Before Public Service Board
The Public Service Commission in Harrisburg heard the request by W. S. Adams and about seventy Mount Tabor farmers for a new Mount Tabor freight and passenger station on the Reading Railroad. Hampton hotel proprietor charged with liquor violation
Information has been laid before Squire Harnish charging Vincent Bushman proprietor of the hotel at Hampton with furnishing liquor to a man of known intemperate habits. Mr Bushman gave bail for his appearance at a hearing which will be held next Tuesday.

Fire destroys old engine works in Hagerstown
A Wednesday blaze gutted the old engine works causing about 20 000 in total losses partly insured. The Cumberland Valley Railroad Company owned the burned building. The Duplex Brush Company on the first floor suffered about 6 000 in damage while the Hagerstown Mantle and Furniture Company on the upper floors faced losses near 8 000. The railroad itself faced losses estimated from 10 000 to 12 000.
