Mad dog scare ends in fatality in North End
A fake mad dog scare in North End led to a fatal shooting of the dog near York Street as a mob pursued the animal. Edward Henry Biddle, 41, longtime railroad engineman, died Wednesday at his East Berlin home after months of illness. Survived by parents, wife, two sons, and several siblings, his funeral is set for Saturday. Community events at Pen Mar park and new attractions are noted.

Plowed Up Soldier Remains Found at Antietam Battlefield
Charles L. Smith unearthed a Confederate era skeleton while plowing on the Antietam battlefield. The discovery included a bullet near the heart, Federal equipment and a Massachusetts coat of arms button. The bones, well preserved after 47 years, will be interred at Antietam National Cemetery. Mr and Mrs John Reed Scott will occupy Mrs Potts home on Lincoln Avenue for the summer, taking possession around July 1.

Mrs George Bumbaugh of York Street found a snake inside a loaf she was slicing on Tuesday. She severed the reptile as she cut, blood on the knife alarming her.
