A lifelong resident, he served as pastor at Plainfield Martinsburg Auburn Fleming's and Mt Pleasant, and earlier acted as justice of the peace and twice served in the state legislature. Funeral services set for Thursday with services at the house then Mt Pleasant church.

A Civil War veteran and member of Corporal Skelly Post 9, he was a retired shoemaker born in York County. He leaves a son in Carlisle and a daughter in Virginia. His body traveled from Gettysburg on the Reading train, funeral services were at the Methodist church, and he was interred at the National Cemetery.
