Boy Struck by Train Near Williamsport Station
Edward Kelly a 3 year old mason from Sir John's Run was struck by W M passenger train No 5 near Williamsport Station at 1 o'clock Monday evening. His right side was crushed and several ribs broken. He had wandered from his family during an excursion to Gettysburg and was hit as he returned to the tracks. He was placed on a special train to the hospital at Hagerstown.

United States cavalry from Fort Meyer passed through Emmitsburg on their way to Gettysburg and paid tribute to veteran Samuel McNair. He asked to hear the bugle once more. the troops gathered around his home as buglers sounded several calls before their march resumed.

Auto traveler Roy a bookbinder publisher from Lancaster left at 5 30 a m by trolley and steam to reach Gettysburg by 10 10 am. A second Lancaster party led by James Prangley Jr and Charles F Widmyer with C D Brown and N M Harrison left Lancaster and reached Gettysburg at 10 20 am. Both groups were pleased with the visit and registered at the Hotel Gettysburg.

Two passenger autos ordered for Gettysburg Emmitsburg and Thurmont routes arrived damaged. Each 30 horse power machine, geared to ten to fifteen miles per hour, seats twelve. Canvas covers cut, tools stolen, oil can spouts removed. It was unclear if the tampering occurred at Thurmont or during transit.
