A Thursday hearing before Squire Hill acquitted C Edward Beeler of violating the state game law during 1909. Witnesses testified horns were not visible above the hair. Beeler claimed he shot the deer after seeing what appeared to be horns. The defense argued the skull and hide did not match the animal, and the court found in Beeler's favor. Beeler is a Waynesboro area mechanical superintendent.
