Monument Site Chosen for Pennsylvania Memorial at Gettysburg
The Executive Committee selects land southeast of Pleasanton and Hancock avenues as the Pennsylvania Monument site. An appropriation of 58156,000 funds the design chosen last year. The plan envisions a Pennsylvania Park with a double triumphal arch model and a nearby group including the Minnesota memorial and the Stannard brigade memorial. Dedication set for July 3, 1910, marking the battle’s forty seventh anniversary. Governor Stuart will be in office for the dedication.

Gettysburg court martial for Captain Corcoran cited staging incident
Captain Thomas M. Corcoran of the Thirteenth Cavalry faces a February 27 court martial in Philadelphia over clashes with Pennsylvania National Guard during Gettysburg patrols last summer. Major General Leonard Wood ordered the trial after militiamen disputed provost guard authority and regulars refused to leave camp. The Lincoln Club of TB Elks No.145 have bought the Gintling Property on West High Street for its new home through attorney J L Williams.

Death Reaps Its Harvest Near Wenksville
Frank Black a Civil War veteran and longtime resident near Wenksville died Thursday afternoon at about one o clock from heart failure while working along the road with family. He leaves a wife two sons Amos and John and three daughters Mrs John Sheaffer Miss Flora Black and Bertha Black. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 30 from his home with Rev A Diehl of Bendersville officiating, Wenksville Cemetery interment.

Hanged Hermit Thomas Found in Wolf's Hill Attic
The body of G F G E Thomas known as Old Man Thomas was found hanged in his Wolf's Hill cabin attic Sunday by Bernard Hoffman and Jacob Raffensperger. He was last seen alive Tuesday night at Oscar Deardorff’s in Straban. Thomas, a German native and former county charger, left a will bequeathing his property to the county for burial and carried a small sum of cash and a book about a lone enemy. No inquest was held.
