The nineteenth annual Adams County School Directors convention opened in the Court House with speeches by Prof. Calvin Hawilton and President Willis E. Thomas. Officers were elected, delegates named for the state convention, and sessions featured reports, discussions on visiting schools and eight-month terms, plus talks on leadership and the director’s duties.

Hoodoo beliefs argued against by evangelist in Gettysburg church
Rev Mr Collette, a colored evangelist, condemned hoodoo charms as superstition during a Washington Street Church revival in Gettysburg. He said many believers, black and white, hang horseshoes and wear charms to ward off disease and witches. The sermon on Faith noted several claimed cures since his arrival, including a rheumatism case.

Immortal Cheese Box replaces old Hagerstown post office

Town Council On Dog Quarantine Enforcement
At an adjourned meeting on Tuesday the council asked the State Livestock Sanitary Board to send an officer to ensure dog quarantine rules are enforced. An officer may be appointed locally to assist. Debates over disposing of dogs led to a muzzling ordinance June 1 to September 1 and a provision to capture and hold dogs found at large, with a $200 recovery fee if claimed. unclaimed dogs are to be killed. A tungsten light was approved for Steinwehr avenue. Licenses for moving picture shows set at 5.00 monthly or 940.00 yearly, prepaid. Fourth street opening discussed. A petition from 101 farmers favored a curb market. action deferred. Friday a session will hear Tax Collector Frock's exoneration requests.
