Perry J. Tawney longtime Gettysburg resident and Civil War veteran died at 7 a.m. Thursday at his Steinwehr Avenue home aged 84 years 9 months and 26 days. He served 1861 to 1864 in Company F 87th Pennsylvania Volunteers and belonged to Corporal Skelly Post 9. He is survived by five sons John J William Edward Frank and Harry all of Gettysburg two brothers Jerry Tawney of Mechanicsburg and John Tawney of Montgomery. Funeral Sunday at 2 p.m. from his home with Rev. J. B. Baker officiating. Military honors will be bestowed at Evergreen cemetery.
