Buffeted by trains near South Junction in Maryland
Hubert T. Shiffler, a Western Maryland Railway clerk at Hagerstown, suffered serious injuries Wednesday when struck between a Cumberland Valley Railway work train and a Norfolk and Western freight on an adjacent track near South Junction. He was found unconscious and taken to Washington County Hospital with head and body bruises and lacerations. Internal injuries are not believed.

Dover gets new Salem Lutheran pastor Rev Hege
Rev J H Hege a Gettysburg Seminary graduate will be installed as pastor of the Salem Lutheran charge in Dover. Special services on Sunday January 14 at Strayer's Union church with Rev A G Pastnacht delivering the charge at 10 am and Rev W H Feldman preaching at 7 pm. Hege arrived in Dover last June after graduation. A week of devotions begins Tuesday January 16.

Fire in Store Sparks Hole in York Springs floor
A sawdust box in People's Store at York Springs caught fire on Tuesday night, burning a two by two foot hole through the floor and leaving embers in the cellar near kerosene. Mr. Bowers found the evidence on Wednesday morning and investigators suspect a tossed cigar end started the blaze.

Expensive Rabbit Hunting Fines Declared at Squire Hill

Minister Hutchinson Suffering Stroke in New Cumberland
Rev J R Hutchinson a well known United Brethren minister based in New Cumberland suffered a paralysis stroke on Monday. He had been living retired at New Cumberland for years and last served at Mt Wolf in York county. He helped administer the Penn Grove Camp Meeting Association.

Willis Harbold of Bermudian escaped with a minor forehead cut when a car he aided fell from the third floor to the ground in a Harrisburg garage. The vehicle, owned by Gurtis Stough of Huntington township, was destroyed. Stough received a replacement from the garage management.

Mail carrier’s wagon bursts into flames in rural delivery mishap
J. R. Hartz of Fairfield route two faced a fiery wagon as a gasoline heater sparked a blaze. He saved parcels by tossing them clear, but the sack fell away and the horse bolted with the burning wagon. The horse was later stopped, the wagon top burned, and Hartz suffered burned hands.

A Western Maryland Railway brakeman A Moore fell from a bow car on the Pen Mar siding Wednesday, breaking his left arm and sustaining bruises and cuts. He was unconscious when found and transported to Washington County Hospital where he is resting as well as could be expected.

Announcement says the York and Monarch plants of the Pennsylvania Textile Company may be sold to the Derry Silk Manufacturing Company of Allentown. J. E. Phillips, general superintendent, has not received info on closing negotiations. The York and Diamond plants were once part of the York Silk Manufacturing Company.
