Dr. M Moriarty showed samples of gold copper and quartz from Eagle Metallic Company mine near Charmian on Wednesday. A shaft 250 feet deep has yielded paying gold and copper with quartz. further work may reveal a gold packet and increase value. Blasting is used to extract minerals as geologists note exceptional formations amid excitement over the discovery.

Horse Bump Throws Boys From Wagon Near McSherrystown
Roy Keagy age 12 and his brother Henry were riding home from Hanover in a Dayton wagon when a frightened horse ran into a Hanover and McSherrystown trolley at Sand Hill. The wagon wrecked, Roy was slightly injured. Henry escaped unharmed. The horse and vehicle both suffered minor damage. conductor Hildebrand and motorman Welsh were held blameless.

The Hanover Merchants Association reached a deal Tuesday with Western Maryland railway to locate shops and a roundhouse in Hanover. John Carmichael of Baltimore accepted the John Ferry tract in the east end for new shops and a coaling station, for a total price of 1500 dollars with Hanover paying the balance after WM paid 730 dollars. Construction is expected to begin soon.
