Death of George Kump Near Cashtown
George Kump died suddenly Monday near Cashtown close to the home of Dennis Bishop. About 65, he had been in Cashtown buying feed at Bream's store. He rested on a fence after placing his bag, then collapsed and died almost at once. He leaves a wife and several children. Funeral set for Thursday morning.

Case Against Starner Ends In Court Action
In April Court the case against Benjamin Starner charged with cruelty to animals was not pressed after a prior hearing and a $10 fine. True bills were returned in coal larceny cases against Thad Warrer and Georges Heagy while Ollie Carter and Claude Groft faced no action. Harry Small pleaded guilty to assault arson and breach of peace after assaulting his father and attempting to burn his barn. Road views confirmed a 26 foot-wide road in Reading township from Hampton to Carlisle road to Heidlersburg. Guardianship and estate actions proceeded with multiple accounts confirmed and discharge granted. Several property sales and real estate orders were approved or continued, with auditors appointed and further petition actions noted. A true bill was returned in the Rev George C. Parker fraud case.

The Maneuver camp near Gettysburg is contracted to proceed. Farms owned by John W Hoffacker of Hanover and B D Snyder of Gettysburg east of town were secured after price negotiations. Water rights were fixed at twelve cents per thousand feet. Army officers including Major Schofield and Brigadier General W W Wotherspoon inspected the ground after travel delays. Mysterious Shooting Injures Baltimore Street Clerk
Charles Reinecker, clerk at Collisioner harness and hardware on Baltimore street, was shot in the hand at Bream's Dam on Thursday. A 22 bullet entered his finger and exited the other side. A search of the area for the shooter found no trace. The weapon appears to have been fired from a distance.

Caught Crook Charged With Stolen Money
Frederick Maryland was the scene as Wellington Hill colored was arrested in Hanover on arrival of a train by Officer Kiser for stealing $60 from Howes. Only forty cents found on Hill. He was taken to Littlestown then delivered to Frederick’s Officer Carter who returned with him. Thompson another colored man arrested but not wanted was released. The pair said they were headed to York seeking work.

Charged With Stealing Hay in Franklin County Court
In Franklin County court the case Com. vs Peter Carbaugh ended with a not guilty verdict after witnesses supported his alibi and character. Ira Biesecker of Orrtanna shot and killed his collie on a Wednesday afternoon after the dog foamed at the mouth. He planned to pen the animal for observation but it charged toward the fields and the dog was killed to prevent further trouble.
